the heart behind rather poetic

"I am going to make everything around me beautiful. That will be my life."
~ Elsie De Wolfe

I love doing the work I do because I believe that...

The world needs you.

Everyone has a unique purpose. You might be here to inspire, to lead, to facilitate growth, to forge new pathways, or to change the future. Your gifts, talents, and message are meant to be shared with your people, and design can help you share it beautifully.

Your work matters. What you believe matters. You matter.

Your business is too valuable to DIY.

Your time & energy are the most important business resources you have. Why spend them trying to juggle branding, graphic design, photography, and website strategy? Delegating means that you can get back to doing what you do best instead of getting lost in the weeds trying to take your own photos or making a logo in canva.

Spend your time being the CEO your business needs you to be.

Business should be beautiful.

Full stop. Business should be beautiful. Beautiful and inspiring for you. Beautiful and enjoyable for your clients. Business should be beautiful.

When I'm not helping my clients, I love singing, walking my Ollie dog, watching crime dramas, picking up & putting down heavy things at the gym, reading for hours in big comfy chairs, and cooking dinner for my family almost every night.

Other favorites would include my lovingly curated pandora stations, a really good margarita, and onions & artichoke hearts on pizza.

And now that you know a little bit about me, I'd love to turn the tables and find out a little more about you. If you are ready to chat, contact me to schedule a quick meet & greet call! We can talk about your business, swap favorite dog accounts on instagram, and check if the creative sparks are flying.

I've been coding & creating since Y2k.

My life as the human behind the screen name ratherpoetic began when I was 14 years old. It was the dark ages of the internet, and digital cameras were some new fangled thing that was never going to take off. Hah. I loved both the internet & digital cameras, and spent my entire high school career teaching myself coding to build websites, taking every photography course my school offered, and making lots of Buffy the Vampire Slayer digital photo manipulations on the weekends.

Luckily for us, when people say things on the internet are forever, they don't mean my BTVS fan art or my dedication to the Legolas Appreciation Threads on FanForum.com.

The love of all things visual stuck with me through college, where I changed my major at least 4 times before settling down with the Communication Design program at my university thinking it was the most "practical" art degree I could get.

I didn't plan to be a one woman design & photography studio after graduation and in some ways it happened by accident. I freelanced on the side for several years, both with design and photography, before finally committing to building a business.

Since then I have been creating designs and images for clients, refining my skills, learning constantly, and enjoying this crazy ride called entrepreneurship.

I don't just photograph & design things.

I have an unhealthy obsession with mac and cheese, I write emails that are way too long by today's standards, and I start listening to Christmas music before Halloween. I also use a ton of emojis when I text & email, sometimes I say jif instead of gif, and I will pick an almond milk chai over coffee every. single. time.

In my spare time I enjoy making all kinds of art, cooking, or playing with typography. I dabble in digital art, jewelry, interior design, and painting. I also love to watch documentaries on Netflix, borrow more books than I can read at one time from the library, and filling my camera roll with photos of Ollie.

I dream of one day starting a blog about my cooking adventures, going to France to see the Louvre & Monet's Gardens, and someday knowing what the heck I am doing when I am at the gym.

I am @ratherpoetic on most things, and Instagram is my favorite. Ollie even has his own account. Come hang out :)
